Parking:
After turning right on Figuroa Street, park in metered lot on the left. Upon check in we will give you a parking pass that you can put on the drivers side dashboard of your car for free parking.
We Need:
Divers to help clean up the Monterey Harbor and our marine environment.
Non-Divers to help with shore activities, check in, sort through items recovered for marine life, BBQ, etc.
Boaters to transport divers and/or trash.
BBQ After the Dive:
The dive shop community is hosting a BBQ on the beach after the dive.
Diver Information:
Pre-Registration:
Is not necessary but is helpful for us to plan our dive and BBQ. Please come even if you have not pre-registered.
To pre-register send an email to David Clayton at drc@astound.net
Registration on Site:
Registration is at 8:30am on the beach near the rest rooms at the base of Wharf II. Present your certification card if you want to dive. Registration includes signing a waiver in order to participate. At registration you will be given a map of the dive areas, an air card, and a parking permit.
Shore Diving:
The areas along the outside of Wharf II are accessible by diving from the beach.
Boat Diving:
We have boats to ferry divers to and from the outer dive sites for intermediate and advanced divers. Please do not board the boats until all of your equipment is on (less fins) and your air is turned on. This will really help us cut down the time it takes to get all divers out to the dive sites.
Equipment:
We do not provide any equipment or goody bags.
Rinse Down Area:
There will be a hose available to rinse down with at the boat ramp in front of
the Harbor Master's Office.
Trash is Sharp:
Check your dive gloves for holes. Items we are recovering can be sharp and
ragged. Exercise caution when handling these items both above and below water.
Bring a Goody Bag:
Bring your goody bag. Preferably one with a large opening.
Bring a Dive Knife:
There is a lot of fishing line and netting down there that you can get tangled
in.
Do Not Bring Up:
Do not bring up car batteries, paint cans, oil cans or any item that may be
hazardous to anyone handling it. Let us know where these items are located and
we will bring them up safely at a later date.
Lift Bag Use:
Do not use lift bags unless you are experienced in the safe use of them. Lift
bag use and the objects they are lifting can be a hazard to you and the divers
around, over, and under you.
Marine Critters:
We want to protect the marine life in our ocean. Please carefully remove any marine critters from objects you bring up
prior to removing them from the ocean floor. We will have volunteers searching
through items brought up to rescue any critters that make it to the beach.
Emergency Information:
a. Dial 911
b. The Coast Guard at (831) 647-7300 or VHF Radio Channel 16.
Prizes and free air fills are donated by the Diving Community
