Underwater Clean Up Dives

 

Results of our August 3, 2002 Monterey Clean Up Dive:

 

How much was brought up:

The Harbor Master has provided us with the weight of the trash we brought up from the ocean floor. The trash was weighed in at the dumps as follows:
Wharf II dumpster = 4,140 pounds
Beach Dumpster = 540 pounds
Total = 5,680 pounds of trash
Great Job!!!

68 Divers participated in the dive.
14 People participated as shore help.

Thank You:
A big thank you goes out to Harbor Master personnel who rented the crane (their crane was broken), ferried divers in boats, picked up trash in boats, transported the trash from the wharf and beach to the dumps, set up our audio equipment, provided sign in tables and rinse down hose, and much more.

 

Statistics on the divers who participated:

Average age of divers:  40.6 years old

Average number of years divers have been certified:  7.3 years

Average number of dives per year:  50.9 dives per year

Percent of divers who stayed overnight in the Monterey area for this event: 34%

 

Our next dive will be in March, 2003 (date to be announced)
